We
have been cruising northward among the many islands and in and out
of some of the fiords along the coast of Norway. We passed many
small villages tucked into the hillsides. Today we entered a small,
narrow fjord called Svesfjord and into a bay called Sandvika. This
bay is isolated from the rest of the world as there are no roads.
Four small farms or summer cottages were scattered in the meadows
of the bay. We
landed by zodiac on the shore and hiked on an old wagon road into
a birch forest. There was an abundance of wildflowers, lichen, ferns
and mosses in the undergrowth. Our naturalist guide spotted a tiny
frog hiding in the growth. A beautiful waterfall cascaded into the
bay.
