The
town of Telluride is located on the scenic San Juan Skyway in southwestern
Colorado in the San Juan Mountain Range. The
town itself covers an area only 5 by 10 blocks long and is at an
altitude of 8750 ft. . Telluride is at the base of the Telluride
Ski Area and is surrounded by 13,000 and 14,000 ft peaks. It is
a National Historic Landmark District filled with Victorian-era
architecture and interesting galleries and shops.
At
the east end of town, Bridal Veil Falls is Colorado's longest (365
ft) free falling waterfall.
Mountain
Village is located on the ski hill at 9500 ft. and is connected
to Telluride by a free 13 minute gondola ride. It
is a year round alpine resort that was incorporated in 1995. In
the summer, it is host to concerts, biking trails and a championship
golf course.
