The Loggia

This long narrow hallway _ more than 200 feet long - is decorated with colorful paintings. In 1780, Catherine the Great had this exact replica built of Raphael's famous hallway - the Vatican Loggia in Rome.

Yusupov Palace

It was built in 1770 and is where Prince Felix conspired in 1916 to kill Rasputin.

The palace tour led us through the basement rooms containing life size portrayals of the mysterious legend.
Rasputin was regarded as a threat to the future of the Russian empire because he had gained extraordinary control over the tsar's family through his alledged supernatural powers.

We then toured the rest of the palace.
